We write the Materia Library carefully and cite our sources. But:
Traditional descriptions are historical, not clinical. Where we describe what a classical text says about a substance, we’re reporting what the text says. We’re not endorsing it, and a claim made in a first-millennium compendium is not evidence.
Research summaries are summaries. We describe published research including its limitations, but we’re not conducting it, and the evidence base for most of these substances is thinner than the wider industry suggests. We try to say so.
